'Jeff-
I love your Leavening site! After viewing it I feel like I've been through a Thomas Hardy novel or at least on vacation. It is so beautiful. Are the traffic lanes in that town really that narrow?
Thanks Again, Marcella'

Hi, can I just say how much I enjoyed looking at your website - it's very well-written with beautiful pictures!

I'm hoping that someone will be able to point me in the right direction to trace the burial of my GG Aunt, Clara Blades, who died in Leavening on 20 January 1913 aged just 30 - or any other Blades. The family lived in Leavening from the 1880s, and I'd really like to find where they are buried. I doubt very much they would have been able to afford headstones, so I suppose it will be a case of looking in a burial register? I only live in Malton, so getting to Leavening is not a problem, but I really don't know where to start looking!

Very many thanks for your time.

With kind regards,

Amanda Horsley

'Mr. Jeff Hampson,
Unbelievable! I was so fortunate to have found your website, Leaveningonline.com, that I may come to know the beautiful area where my ancestors lived. To top this off, you quoted my 3rd Great-Grandfather, Robert Addison, in excerpts of his book "Topographical History of Leavening" – a book I never would have known existed if not for your work on this site. What better way to visualize Leavening through his memories (other than holding this treasure in my hands and read his writings)? My mind is racing with several thoughts: How may I obtain a copy of Mr. Don Howarth’s work "Leavening Through the Ages"? Secondly, does the house and farm known as Cleaves End still exist? Robert Addison’s son, Peter and family, lived in 1861 at Sand Field House then in 1871 at West Gates. Do they still exist? Lastly, are there any photos of Robert Addison that you or Mr Howarth might be aware of?
I can’t thank you enough for your amazing website and the information I’ve found by serendipity from so far away – Lady Lake, Florida, USA.
Sincerely,
Pat Otterberg
