Next Village Church Council Annual Meeting 2006

Tuesday 7th November 2006

LEAVENING CHURCH NEWS

The best news is that as from the beginning of August the church has been open every day between about 9 and 6. This is to continue and we do hope that the village will see it as a quiet place to go for reflection or prayer. There is a red book in church in which you can put down the names of anyone you would like us to pray for. You are equally welcome to shelter there while you wait for the bus!

Thanks to people's generosity and support we have had a good Summer's fund-raising. From the Parish Garden Party, Leavening Fete and the Strawberry Teas we made almost £800, which we shared with Leavening Methodist Church.

Finally, congratulations to the three ladies, including Tracey Bylo who runs the U4G Group and Hazel Milburn for running the Summer bible study group for children. This was well attended and clearly very much enjoyed. It would be terrific if some of those children and their parents could come to the termtime 3.30 Friday afternoon service in the Methodist Schoolroom. These will resume on Friday, 8* . September. A number of the families who attended have moved or are about to move and it would be a shame to lose it.

Best Wishes, Val Jarvis, Churchwarden (658136)

Pastoral Visiting - Visiting people in their homes is a very important part of the pastoral work of the Rector and members of our Lay Pastoral Team. Due to the number of communities and the wide area for which we are responsible, we find ourselves concentrating on visiting the sick, the bereaved and families preparing for the baptism of their child. If you would like to be visited, for whatever reason, or know of someone who would welcome a visit., may I please ask you to contact me and one of us will be delighted to come.

If you or someone you know are unable to get to church and would like a visit at home for Holy Communion, please contact the Rev. Michael Sinclair to arrange this
